The story is engaging and the characters make you care for them. It's a fun and slightly poignant little story.My main beef is that the character descriptions jump around. One character has curly hair, then straight hair. Eyes change colors, some are described as slim then pudgy as children, plain then beautiful.
Overall I enjoyed it and have re-read it several times

I enjoyed the look into the lives of the show people before they were called "freaks". Life doesn't always go the way we hope it will go.

Great book. Hope she writes more like it.
This book fascinated me. The characters were treated with a great deal of compassion in spite of their deformities. I felt a connection to each of them and felt the true meaning of personhood by reading this book. The commonalities of the human spirit prevail in this book as the "freaks" overcome their deformities to find the real meaning and purpose of life in friendship, striving for a better life, friendship, and inner beauty. I highly recommend it for anyone!
I loved the backstories more than the curret storyline. A good story if you love circus history like i do
Wanted it to be better. Great character development of 2 main "freaks." Wanted more about the others. That isn't why i gave it 3 stars. The ending of this book is very abrupt, almost like the author got bored, or ran out of story.
This was a good read, with an engrossing plot and well-drawn characters. The structure of going back and forth from present day to past was effective at keeping us following the main story while learning the backstories. I recommend it.
