Robespierre A study Hilaire Belloc 9781178346305 Books
Early in his amazing career, Hilaire Belloc wrote biographies of both Robespierre and Danton, those infamous characters of the French Revolution. This work, his study of Robespierre, reflects his then budding literary talent, but is sadly lacking the older man's significant wisdom. Of the twenty odd Belloc titles I have read, I would rank this his most secular piece. And perhaps these factors of youth and secularism are related. In any case, though the present work is interesting, it is simply not up the grandeur of his later works. To appreciate Belloc fully, start with his later works, such "Europe and the Faith", "Crisis of Civilization", and "Great Heresies".Product details

Completely satisfied, Belloc is always a treasure
Brilliant in depth analysis of Robespierre. I would recommend it to anyone interested in the French Revolution.
